The Violin: The Beginners Guide to Reading Violin Music.

I don't think it is important to learn how to read violin music if you have a good ear and are not really interested in classical violin. Most tunes that can be played on a violin other than complicated classical pieces, can be picked up "by ear." In fiddle music for instance lots of songs are passed down the generations from musician to musician. The only problem with this is that it gets a bit like "Chinese whispers" as the further you get from the original the different it gets, plus you will get variations as violinists change some of the notes.

Reading music is an option that I think will enhance your playing and will give you a different approach to learning a new tune. For me, I do both; sometimes I will find the music and learn the piece, other times I will pick it up be listening to it over and over. If you are just beginning to play it is something worth considering, and here is a tried and tested technique that you may like to give a try. Every note in sheet music corresponds to one of your four fingers that you use to play the violin with. These notes also correspond to one of the four strings, either E, A, D, or G. If you have the sheet music for a particular scale or tune then you can use a very simple way to begin learning what finger corresponds to what string.

Start off by getting the sheet music for G Major. Make sure that this is the music for the two Octave scale as this will use all four strings.

We know that the scale of G will start-off on the open G-string so under the first note on the sheet music, you should put the letter "o" which means open. The second note will be your first finger on the G-string so mark underneath it 1 and the third note will be your second finger on the G-string so write 2. Follow the sheet music all of the way up and as you change strings write the numbers underneath the note so it will look like O,1,2, 3.

If you don't know how the Scale of G-Major should sound, find a site on the internet with a midi file so you can listen to it.

This article is by no means the complete guide to reading sheet music, but I hope it will give you a rough idea on how to go about the basics.

Top Tips on How to Hire a Crowd Pleasing Band

AppId is over the quota

Ok, if you're reading this then the chances are you've never hired a band for an event, or even worse, you have hired one and it turned out to be a complete disaster. Whichever of these applies to you, there's no doubt you want to avoid music hiring failure at all costs. So, to help you out a little, here are a few top tips...

Choose versatility

It doesn't matter if you're a one trick pony and only listen to rock and roll, because different people have different music tastes. Therefore, you should always pick a band that isn't afraid to wander across genres. You're unlikely to find a band that does it all, but if you can find one who will happily mix a bit of rock and roll with some country and jazz for good measure, or at least mix a few genres, then you'll have a much better chance of pleasing everybody.

Choose established

Before you even pick up that phone to book your band you need to consider how much you really know about them. Just because they say they sound like The Beatles doesn't mean that they don't sound like a dog being dragged through a cattery. Any good band will have a website where you can listen to their tracks and watch videos of their previous performances. If they don't have a website or anywhere where you can access their music, then it's probably best to avoid them and save your ears.

Choose professionals

If you've ever been to see a few bands play in your time then it's more than likely you've seen some of the 'professional' behaviour of these musicians. It's no myth than certain bands and groups can be anything but professional, and the last thing you want is four drunks and a drug addict crashing your wedding or event. That's why you should always look for testimonials or past experiences. If the band has a website and they're a good band, then they'll have plenty of reviews. If they don't have any reviews at all then it's worth asking yourself why that is the case.

Choose experience

Finally, you should always try and choose a band that is comfortable playing at the type of event you have organised. A band may look great in the pub through blurred eyes on a Friday night, but that's not to say they will be just as good at your wedding ceremony. Many bands state what events they specialise in, giving you the peace of mind that you're making the right choice.

That's how to pick a band that'll tick all the right boxes. If you need a great jazz band to hire in the UK, then look no further than Sax and Honey. They are a dynamic duo who play at weddings and many other events. Head to their website and give them a listen.

Music and Its Role in Child Development

AppId is over the quota

Kids music serves a few purposes. First of all it must be entertaining and enjoyable for kids to listen to. Children tend to have attention spans of less than a minute, so if the kids music isn't very attractive to the children, they will get bored of it quickly.

The songs should be simple and repetitive so that the children can learn the songs quickly and with ease. When they do, they can sing along with the music and it becomes an interactive activity. When children are engaged in something, such as a sing-along, they will be able to do it for a much longer span of time before they tire of it.

Kids music is also a great teaching tool. Elementary school teachers have been using music along with their traditional style of teaching. Music has the ability to get kids to get involved in the subject matter.

The kids hear the songs, start having fun, and no longer realize that they are being taught. When a song covers a particular subject and the kids memorize the song, the kids end up learning from it, whether they intended to or not. This allows for kids music to be a very valuable teaching tool.

Parents should also look into adding to their children's development with educational songs. Educational subjects do not just have to cover academia, but can also touch on other areas such as values, morals, and ethics. Music is a good way to introduce children to these important topics.

Children are constantly encountering new things that can be hard for them to comprehend. These do not always have to be tangible items, but they can also have a hard time dealing with new feeling and emotions. For example, the first time that a child has a possession stolen from him, he will not understand why someone took something that is not theirs.

The critical part comes in teaching the child that what happened was wrong, and that they should not go and take other people's belonging because of what has happened. They can be prepared for situations like this if they are exposed to it before it happens. A parent or teacher can explain to the child beforehand that stealing is wrong, and that way when the child has something stolen, he does not immediately go and steal something else.

Kids music is a great way to expose children to subjects like these in a fun and enjoyable way. It allows for subject matter that is critical for a healthy social and emotional development, to be presented in a way in which kids can understand.
